Plagiarism Policy

The ICBAE Conference adopts a strict policy against plagiarism and other forms of academic misconduct. The conference is committed to maintaining academic integrity by ensuring that all submitted manuscripts are original, properly attributed, and ethically prepared. Any violation of this policy may result in rejection, withdrawal from the conference program, or exclusion from publication.

Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism refers to the use of another person’s words, ideas, data, figures, or other intellectual content without proper acknowledgment and presenting them as one’s own original work. This includes direct copying, close paraphrasing, improper citation, and unauthorized reuse of previously published materials.

Policy on Originality
All manuscripts submitted to the ICBAE Conference must be original, unpublished, and not under review or consideration elsewhere in substantially the same form. Any text taken verbatim from another source must be clearly indicated through appropriate quotation marks or formatting and must be accompanied by proper citation. Authors are fully responsible for ensuring that all borrowed materials are properly attributed.

For material that exceeds fair use, including extensive text, tables, figures, or graphic content reproduced from other sources, authors must obtain explicit permission from the copyright holder and, where applicable, from the original author. Full source information must also be provided.

Similarity Check and Editorial Action
All submitted manuscripts may be screened using plagiarism detection software such as iThenticate or other equivalent similarity-checking tools. The similarity report will be reviewed by the conference editors or scientific committee, and any concerns will be evaluated carefully based on the nature, extent, and context of the overlap.

Editorial actions may include the following:

  • Similarity above 25%: the manuscript may be rejected due to excessive textual overlap, insufficient citation, or poor paraphrasing.
  • Similarity between 15% and 25%: the manuscript may be returned to the authors for revision. Authors must improve paraphrasing, correct citations, and reduce the similarity level before the paper can proceed further.
  • Similarity below 15%: the manuscript may proceed in the review process, although minor citation or attribution corrections may still be required where necessary.

For manuscripts requiring revision due to similarity concerns, authors must carefully revise the text, add missing citations, and improve academic paraphrasing. The revised version may be requested together with an updated similarity report showing that the concerns have been adequately addressed.

Author Responsibility
Authors bear full responsibility for the originality and ethical integrity of their submissions. By submitting a manuscript to ICBAE, authors confirm that the work is original and that they have complied with the conference’s plagiarism and publication ethics policies. Repeated or severe violations may lead to further action by the conference committee, including rejection of current submissions and restriction from future participation.

Self-Plagiarism and Redundant Publication
This policy also applies to the reuse of an author’s own previously published material. If authors reuse text, figures, or other content from their prior publications, the reused parts must be clearly identified and the original source must be properly cited. In addition, where required, permission for reuse must be obtained from the copyright holder.

When overlap is substantial, particularly where identical or nearly identical text, figures, or findings constitute a significant portion of the manuscript, the case may be treated as serious redundant publication or self-plagiarism. Minor reuse, such as in methodological descriptions, may be considered on a case-by-case basis, but proper citation remains mandatory in all circumstances.

Overlap with Other Submissions or Publications
If a manuscript submitted to ICBAE is found to overlap significantly with another manuscript currently under review elsewhere, or with a previously published work, the conference committee reserves the right to reject the submission or withdraw it from the publication process. Authors must disclose any related submissions or prior dissemination of the work.

If the manuscript is an expanded version of a paper previously presented at a conference or included in conference proceedings, authors must clearly state this at the time of submission, identify the earlier version, and ensure that any necessary copyright clearance or republication permission has been obtained. The conference editors reserve the right to determine whether such submissions are acceptable for further publication.

Previously Published Material in Other Languages or Formats
If any part of the submission has previously appeared in another language, format, or limited-circulation publication, the authors must disclose the original source, including title, date, and publication venue, and provide evidence that republication is permitted. Material originating from unpublished presentations, slides, or oral communications may be incorporated into a manuscript, provided that doing so does not violate copyright or ethical publishing standards.

Final Provision
The ICBAE Conference reserves the right to take appropriate editorial action in all suspected cases of plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate submission, or improper reuse of published materials. These actions are intended to protect the integrity, credibility, and scholarly value of the conference and its publication outputs.
